Heading North to the Sunshine Coast

Recently I have been contemplating whether I should give the Cable Pro Circuit some attention. With cable always being a passion of mine as down time from the boat and a way to relax and really enjoy my time on the water. Watching my good friends Matty Hasler (2013) and James Windsor (2012) win the World Titles in both divisions on the cable, I really decided to sink my teeth into Dedicating a lot more of my time into the cable scene.

I have just got a nice place on the Sunshine Coast, about 5 minutes away from the cable park I learnt to ride at, Go-Wake Cable Park in Bli Bli which is my favourite cable in Australia to ride at. This has really given me the best opportunity to ride every day and really put myself to the test.

Riding with James Windsor, Luke Boor, Mitch Langfield, Ben Doreen, Manu Rupp and all the other Bli Bli boys have been great as they were the original cable boys I grew up riding with. I have a massive season ahead of me before departing to the States once again, and I'm really excited to see how it all pans out.

Moomba Masters 2011

My Mum and Dad grew up and raised me in Melbourne and used to go and sometimes take me to Moomba every year. It was pretty cool to have my relatives there watching me wakeboard for the first time and now understand what the sport is. Since I started wakeboarding Dad always said if I ever get the chance to ride at Moomba then I should do it because it is a really sick event to be apart of, now i understand why.

Because it was a Nautique event i saw it as a chance for me to spend some time and chill time with the International crew from Nautique in Orlando who had come over for the event.

The boat towing the event was a Super Air Nautique 230 which is the same boat i have so I was on my own wake and was loving it.

I got to spend some time with the International Team signing autographs and taking photos and I made sure i made the most of my time on the water. I ended up winning my first heat, rode pretty bad in the semi's and and somehow just scraped threw to the finals.

As Charlie Sheen says "Winning"
In the finals i managed to put it together and had a great ride and was pretty stoked to come out on top. It was my first open age pro event win and i got a check for just under $5,000 which i was really happy with, hopefully that will cover some costs in the US this summer.
I loved Moomba and was stoked to be apart of the whole thing and I can't wait for it next year!!

Final Stop of the Australian Rail Series

Well the Liquid Force Australian Rail Series wound up on the Sunshine Coast last weekend at Suncoast Cable Bli Bli.

Due to the amount of time I have had off the water whilst I changed boat sponsors, I spent a ot of time riding cable and it is has helped me a lot in taking cable tricks to behind the boat.

At Junior Mens level the series  has really been between James Windsor & I.  Going into the last round we were on equal points and still on equal points after a countback dropping our worst round.

This made for a really exciting final showdown on James home turf.

It was a tough final and James finished ahead of me taking out the title as well as taking out the title of Junior Mens Wakeskate Champion.   James has a huge talent and has started making some big impressions behind the boat too.

It was also the first official public appearance of our new boat!  Feedback was awesome too!

2nd place in the biggest series of events in Australia is a pretty cool achievement and it gives me a benchmark to improve on next year!

Riding through the threshold of pain

Team Billabong Athlete Dylan Prideaux

Back on the Liquid Force Rail Jam tour with event 3 at Logan.  I smashed my hand up pretty bad and had missing skin and blood every time I rode.  I shouldn’t have rode the event, but the points tally for the season is important so I figured it was too important to not ride.

I managed to win my heat, but a couple of falls in the final dropped me to 3rd place.  This dropped me to 2nd place in the Overall Comp behind James Windsor and just in front of Ethan Clifford.  With 3 rounds to go it’s wide open and last years winner Jamie Neville is just behind us in 4th place.

Liquid Force Hammer Time
I also had fun in the Liquid Force Hammer Time Invitational.  It was the Top 13 riders all going head to head with water tricks and big kicker tricks in a winner takes all format.  I finished 4th and was really stoked because I finished in front of some pro riders who I really respect and it was nice to be in the same company as them

The day after the rail comp I had to go and shoot some video for the Liquid Force Movie with Mick Neville and Chris Flaxman.  Cory Teunissen was also there filming for O’Brien.  We had bad weather, lots of rain but as usual the wake on Mick’s boat was really good.  Considering my injuries I rode pretty well throwing down a couple of 720 variations and a couple of different mobe 5’s.

I am staying off the water for a few days now to heal before flying to Sydney this weekend for 9 days of boat, cable, another Rail Jam, and the Grom Stock Boat Comp.  Should be a fun week.

Cable Wakeboard Nationals

Really excited to be in Cairns this week for the Cable Nats.  It's an awesome Cable Park and a great climate for riding with ideal water temperature.
I flew up on Tuesday with my folks and Cameron Edwards.  My Logan mates Damo, Corey and Nick arrived today and they are all set for tomorrow.   Have spent a lot of time with the Oxlade's from Singapore. Jaimi is 12 and just rips at Cable.  Her older Brother Aussie broke his Femur on Sunday just after arriving so I haven't had a chance to watch him ride.  He was released from Hospital today and has been able to hang out for the afternoon watching the crew ride.  With Sam Gunn,  Matty Denitis and James Windsor riding the event is legit - so much talent all set to go off.
PS Love the free wifi at Cairns Cable - updating my blog on the balcony watching the cable right now!
